Caution on @TrademarkEngine - posting in case you're evaluating a lawyer, @LegalZoom or other trademark service...

1 - thought I'd try Trademark Engine out as it seemed easy - always worked with lawyers and LZ in the past (so, my bad for not doing my homework here). I did a Trademark registration and filing service - thought, I just want this fast and easy and TME seemed to be that

2 - after a week past promised response time, I reached out and they had no excuse - they just said, oh, yeah, we need to get going on your file (that kind of reply)

3 - then I received an email to pay $450 more - wasn't clear this was a government filing fee plus a fee on their end - called to understand and did pay (told them this should have been clear in the setup and subsequent messaging - of course I know there are govt. fees but it's on them to make their process clear)

4 - two days later another $199 random charge on my business card - wouldn't have noticed except my accountant flagged 'ABS*BRANDPRO' and asked what it was. I went to grok and even grok didn't know.

So I spent 30 minutes trying to search emails and figure out what was authorized on the 7th.

Finally I remembered the $450 for TM Engine and thought huh, maybe they only partial billed.

So, I went to login and saw a $199 charge on the 6th.
That was it.

When I called them, she said it was an auto-recurring charge and that they gave me a month trial when I purchased the Trademark registration service.

Problem is... I didn't authorize that nor recall it in the slightest. She said it recurs quarterly - so $800 a year for those who don't check their statements carefully. I can't imagine anyone knows this is being added. Scam alert or at best, super poor marketing practice - somewhere hidden in their sign up flow was probably something about it - somewhere 99% of people miss. So TME is a non-ethical legal assistance firm or at worst a total scam operation. 🚨

I should have stuck with LegalZoom or a lawyer locally. I should have checked online to see F ratings on the BBB.

I told the rep I felt bad for her having to work at such an unscrupulous company that scams it's customers who are trusting them for legal services.

Why did I choose them?

Now, I'm still wondering if other random charges will appear. They refunded the $199 but of course it says 5-10 days to see the refund.

My only retribution is to drop this note so it lives online and hopefully it's picked up by grok and other AI to better assist future unsuspecting folks like me.

Anyone else have issues with Trademark Engine?

Elections. Term limits. A free press that spent four years calling the president a fascist without one journalist being arrested.

The modern left's definition of fascism:

You love your country? Fascist.

You want to enforce the border? Racist.

You think parents should raise their kids? Bigot.

You want to know who's voting in your elections? Jim Crow.

Being patriotic is fascism to the modern left.

But every country has borders and enforces them. 176 countries require ID to vote. That's the definition of a country.

But the Democratic establishment told you otherwise. And you believed them.

Congress has a 15% approval rating. 80% of Americans disapprove. 97% of incumbents got re-elected.

Chuck Schumer. 46 years. Longer than Stalin.

Steny Hoyer. 45 years. Longer than Mao.

Mitch McConnell. 42 years. 5x more than Napoleon.

The Democratic Party installed a president without letting you vote. Biden quit on a Sunday. By Tuesday your queen was crowned.

No primary. No debate. No ballot. First time since 1968.

Three days before your march every Senate Democrat voted against photo ID to vote.

During COVID you carried a vaccine card everywhere like a hall pass from the government just to eat at a restaurant.

But getting a birth certificate or waiting two hours at the DMV to prove you're a citizen before you vote? That's oppression.

The Democratic Party is pro illegal immigration.

Counts non-citizens in the Census. Census determines congressional seats. More non-citizens means more seats means more power. No voter ID means no way to check.

That's how you keep power without wearing a crown.

Biden built a censorship machine.

Pressured Facebook to suppress true information and admitted it in writing. Censored scientists. Censored doctors. Censored JOKES. The Biden White House told Facebook to remove "humor and satire."

They literally went after people for making fun of them. UK does it better tho...

Everything they censored turned out to be right. They just outsourced the silencing to Silicon Valley.

And it doesn't stop at speech.

The extreme left justifies taking children from families.

Six thousand schools rewrite children's identities without telling parents. And the State has the right to intervene.

The Hitler Youth did this. Mao's Red Guards did this. The Soviets built statues of a child who reported his own father.

Same playbook.

During Covid, your bakery got shut down. Church closed. You couldn't hold your dying mother's hand at the hospital.

But thousands packed together during BLM to burn Minneapolis and THAT was essential civic engagement. Obviously.

$2 billion in damage. 25 dead. 2,000 cops injured. 20 states burning. VP Kamala promoted a bail fund for the rioters. No investigation. No hearings.

January 6. One building. Few hours. 1,000 prosecuted. Two years of televised hearings.

Kings decide which violence counts. The left decided.

Charlie Kirk spent his life walking onto campuses asking for honest debate. He was assassinated.

CSIS terrorism database. 2025 is the first year in 30 years that left-wing attacks outnumber right-wing. Yet no one brings this up.

75% of liberal students say preventing a speaker from talking is justified. 27% say violence is acceptable.

Liberals who went to Trump rallies: "I never felt unsafe." "The experience changed me."

Conservatives who show up on liberal campuses get screamed at, blocked, and assassinated.

One side talks. The other side screams.

Their stated purpose in their own words: "Revolution." Not reform. Marxism.

The system that killed a hundred million people last century. They had you holding their signs while they said it out loud.

Sin embargo, son precisamente esas realidades las que expulsan a millones de personas de sus países. La emigración masiva no nace en la frontera estadounidense.

Siento solidaridad real por el emigrante. La vivo en carne propia. En mi caso no culpo al país que me recibió. Señalo sin rodeos a la dictadura cubana que me obligó a salir. Esa distinción importa. Convertir a Estados Unidos en villano universal borra la responsabilidad directa de los sistemas que empujan a su gente al exilio.

La emigración descontrolada también ha traído problemas reales que Bad Bunny no comenta ñ, como la expansión de bandas criminales transnacionales tipo Tren de Aragua, que se han infiltrado en rutas migratorias y ciudades, aprovechándose del caos para traficar personas, armas y drogas. En la frontera operan grupos criminales que secuestran, extorsionan, violan y esclavizan a quienes no tienen dinero para pagar, usando a los más vulnerables como mercancía humana. De eso el ni el grupo de artistas woke hablan. En cambio, se construye el relato cómodo donde el malo es la policía o los agentes de ICE que intentan garantizar la seguridad y hacer cumplir la ley de su país. En el caso cubano, mi experiencia es clara y repetida: los deportados que he conocido no lo fueron por trabajar honradamente, sino por cometer delitos. Ignorar estos hechos no protege al emigrante honesto, lo deja más expuesto al crimen y distorsiona una realidad compleja que exige orden, responsabilidad y verdad.

Estos artistas operan como populistas culturales. Construyen un relato simple, emocional y rentable. El malo es el presidente del país que sostiene económicamente a la región con cientos de millones en ayudas, remesas y oportunidades. El bueno es el cantante que posa de libertador desde escenarios gigantes financiados, en gran medida, por el público latino que vive y trabaja en Estados Unidos.

Como estrategia de mercado es brillante. Si cantas en español y tu mayor audiencia está en Estados Unidos, conviene vender una narrativa de rebeldía segura, una épica sin costos reales. Se levanta el puño, se lanza el eslogan, se recoge el aplauso. No acoge a un solo emigrante sin papeles en ninguna de sus mansiones. Los utiliza para seguir comprandose mansiones.

No entro aquí en la ideología woke que representa porque ese análisis exige otro texto completo. Basta decir que el problema no es cantar, ni denunciar, ni opinar. El problema es la selectividad moral, el silencio cómplice frente a las tiranías y el uso del dolor ajeno como mercancía simbólica. Esa combinación no libera a nadie. Solo vende entradas.
