"Every teacher in our study was clear that being asked to teach in a blended-hybrid manner was the worst way to be asked to teach...This is not whining about working hard at all. It’s a professional assessment of a flawed model."

@tdsb this is ridiculous. What is the point of having a policy if you aren’t going to even follow it?
Also, it makes it seem like you have no idea what goes into a day of synchronous teaching that you think that we can just have that ready to go at the drop of a hat. 🤯
@SsimmonsTdsb That was my job this morning…breaking kits of 5 to kits of 2 with my n95 on, viral wiped table and gloves on. We have photocopied instructions with them but the “test tube racks” were limiting, was going to get creative to cut them in half but would need a saw.
To ensure safety in #onted schools, ETFO is calling for a return to monitoring and reporting COVID-19 cases/outbreaks in schools, and ensuring school communities are made aware of these cases/outbreaks, especially individuals who are close contacts.
You know what causes a lot of instability in mental health?
Constant shifts in the way that we can do our jobs effectively, having no confidence that those in charge of keeping me and students safe, and inconsistent messaging about priorities during a massive crisis.

@robertbenzie I agree that schools should’ve been shut before Christmas, but “Secret Santa Week”? We are teaching curriculum up to and including the last day of school. This ‘third insider’ demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect for our primarily female workforce.
They had the summer of 2020 to prepare, they didn't. They had the winter break of 2020 to prepare, they didn't.

@metromorning@RebeccaZandberg What’s the scientific justification for children 12 and under isolating for 5 days, but unvaccinated adults isolating for 10? How are these groups different?
If @ongov is serious about schools being 1st to open/last to close, start planning now.
-#COVIDisAirborne PPE for teachers/staff
-3 shots for teachers/staff
-upgrade ventilation as much as possible
-focused effort to get kids vax’d
-rapid “test to stay”
-routine RAT surveillance
Ford could find an extra $500-MILLION in new revenue for Toronto public schools tomorrow.

Vaccinated people are like wet logs, unvaccinated like dry kindling. COVID is the fire.
Can wet logs catch fire? Yes.
Can wet logs SPREAD fire once they catch flame? Sure.
But it’s MUCH harder to start a fire with wet logs, and nearly impossible when there’s no more kindling.
This entire section of the front matter to the grade nine math curriculum appears to have been removed.
Why?
Because some far right politicians got upset.
Why are they driving #OntEd curriculum?
YOU should care about this deletion, even if you don’t teach math.
