The three juveniles were its offspring raised in northern Sweden this year with an unringed female, presumably one of the other adults in the flock. Prior to arriving here in from the sea on 9th Nov, these birds were last seen at Strijen in The Netherlands on 7th Oct.
The Lesser White-fronted Geese
@flamboroughbird are still present today. Here's what we know of their sightings elsewhere. The ringed bird is a male and was released as juvenile in northern Sweden in July 2018, returning there each year since and wintering in The Netherlands.
Images of the group of Lesser White-fronted Geese at Palmer's Flash @flamboroughbird this morning. We know the ringed individual comes from the reintroduction scheme in Swedish Lapland. Presumably the other six are 2nd generation or older from that scheme.
Face off! This afternoon's Cattle Egret being flushed by one of the local residents @FlamboroughBird. Perhaps surprising that this was only the second for the headland after the first this spring.
Much improved images of the Daurian/Turkestan Shrike at @Bempton_Cliffs in better light late afternoon. Still distant but not so much heat haze. @FlamboroughBird
New arrivals on Flamborough Headland today included a Rustic Bunting and a presumed Daurian Shrike @Bempton_Cliffs . Always distant and in strong sun, here is a record shot. OBP, GG Shrike, RB Flycatchers two Little Bunts, Icterine all add a touch more quality. @FlamboroughBird
@BlaenavonNature Top job. You did well to get those images, Lee. Please could you send your edited copies to [email protected] when you get chance. Thanks.
Some record shots of today's Eastern Olivaceous Warbler at Old Fall Hedge @flamboroughbird, only the second here, the last being in 1st-3rd September 2010. A headland first for me so many thanks to all involved. @RareBirdAlertUK@BirdGuides
@andyhood75@FlamboroughBird If anything the Flamborough bird has better credentials, if only because of the positive DNA analysis. All being well, we should see it on the confirmed @FlamboroughBird list before too long.
Yet more gratuitous images of a Red-backed Shrike, this time at South Landing found by @CraigCThomas1. It's been an exceptional year so far for them, this being the 21st for @FlamboroughBird this spring.
On a foggy morning, this Temminck's Stint at Thornwick Pools @FlamboroughBird was only a short stayer - less than half an hour. Very welcome addition to the headland's year list though.
The Sibe Stonechat @FlamboroughBird seems to have moved on. Spoonbills continue to evade me this year. On the positive side, there was a bit of recompense in finding my first Spotted Flycatcher of the year.
Thanks to @CraigCThomas1 for another good find. Grey-headed Wagtail at Thornwick Pools @FlamboroughBird after a heavy shower. Is there more to be found today?
