4 years of working and I still don’t get why so many people eat food at their desks.
- you get crumbs in your keyboard and oil on your mouse
- the noise and smell can annoy your coworkers
- you are denying yourself the opportunity to sit outside or have a change of scenery
@quarterjapanese It gets complicated when you’re in New York and all minutes are the extra fast variety “New York minutes”, but in general:
New York minute < standard minute = New York microwave minute < standard microwave minute = New York plank minute < standard plank minute
@olivertannenba2 Still haven’t figured this one out. Throwback to when I told the family I get annoyed by loud chewing and then it became a joke for everyone to chew loudly in front of me
@quarterjapanese I’ve only spent time in building common spaces for 3 reasons
- it was outdoors
- it had a pool table and we wanted to play pool
- the shared space could accommodate more guests than an individual unit could
Definitely not to mingle with other building residents lol
@quarterjapanese Ad wise, maybe ikea could give curated furniture with labels+QR codes for an in-building showroom experience. Samsung could provide a TV with built in Samsung ads, Sony a modified PlayStation with trial versions of games, etc.
@quarterjapanese Part of the problem is you can’t trust people to take care of nice items in a shared space like they would their own. I bet notes could be taken from hotel lobby decor. But in the end it comes down to the landlord to care for / invest in the space bc who else is going to
