‘Do these people know where petrol comes from?’
James O’Brien thinks a 'memo has gone out to the dumbest people in the UK,' telling them to attack Keir Starmer on petrol prices, despite supporting the war in Iran.
Writing their name into the history books 💫
@CPFC are set to become the 17th current Premier League side to play European football, as they prepare to face Dynamo Kyiv in the Conference League🤝
RFK Jr.’s Gardasil talking points have been repeatedly fact-checked and debunked. The claim that “Gardasil trials showed 37× higher death rates than cervical cancer” is false, there were 14 deaths out of more than 29,000 participants in the pivotal trials, and none were found to be related to the vaccine. That death rate was lower than the background death rate in that age group.
The placebo claim is also misleading. The Gardasil trials used both saline placebos and aluminum-adjuvant controls, which is common in vaccine research because you need to measure whether the antigen itself is causing reactions, not just the adjuvant. Importantly, adverse events were similar across all groups, and there was no safety signal suggesting excess risk from Gardasil.
The claim that the risk of dying from cervical cancer is “zero” in teens ignores the entire point of HPV vaccination: cervical cancer takes 10–20 years to develop. The vaccine is given before exposure so that it prevents HPV infection and precancerous lesions in the first place. Since its introduction, population-level studies in multiple countries (Sweden, UK, Australia) have shown dramatic drops in high-grade cervical lesions and cervical cancer rates, proof that the vaccine works.
Gardasil is now one of the most heavily studied vaccines in history, with over 270 million doses given worldwide and continuous safety monitoring. Serious adverse events are very rare, and the benefits in preventing cancer far outweigh the risks.
In short, RFK Jr.’s narrative cherry-picks data, misrepresents trial design, and ignores the overwhelming body of evidence that HPV vaccination is safe and highly effective at preventing cancer.
@bodenknights More upset about the red card to be honest. Genuine attempt to get the ball and there’s another defender right in front. Put us beer so much extra pressure last 10. No arguments with the penalty tbh.
New study. Olympic athletes. Post-COVID outcomes.
Researchers tracked 65 Olympic-caliber athletes from Germany’s National Olympic Training Center — not weekend warriors, but elite professionals at the top of their sport.
Here’s what they found after confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections:
Infection rates were ~11%, regardless of contact vs non-contact sport
37% had symptoms lasting over 4 weeks
Over half paused training for 4–8 weeks
At 4 months post-infection:
40% still reported reduced performance
64% had ongoing limitations in sports participation
Lingering issues: mental/physical fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle/joint pain
Let that sink in.
Four months later — despite being cleared, testing negative, and following elite recovery protocols — nearly 2 out of 3 hadn’t returned to full capacity.
This isn’t about “mild” disease.
It’s not about testing positive or negative.
It’s about the psychophysiological toll that can derail even the fittest bodies on the planet.
If Olympians need careful, stepwise return-to-play protocols… What does that say about the rest of us?

Laura Kuenssberg, "Elon Musk, a political pal of Donald Trump and Nigel Farage, attacking Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the Labour government, over inaction over the grooming scandal"
Alan Johnson, "It's Orwellian.. In 1984, slavery is freedom, ignorance is strength.. We've had a public inquiry into grooming, it took 7 years, it cost £200 million"
"Why is the leader of the opposition Kemi Badenoch calling for a public inquiry when she was in cabinet when they made recommendations, none of which have been acted on"
"What Elon Musk is proving is having lots of money doesn't make you intelligent about world affairs"
Trevor Philips, "The NHS is spending £1 million every three minutes"
£3,465 - how much the UK spends per person on NHS
£4,364 - how much France spends per person
£5,184 - how much German spends per person
France is spending 25% more and Germany 49% more
The reason why there are better health outcomes in France and Germany is because they are spending more per person on the NHS
So while £1 million every 3 minutes sounds 'big' it is still significantly less than France and Germany
Imagine a world where your team is 3rd 1 point from top, lost 1 game all season with a developing team thrown together after a fire sale in the summer & after an admittedly poor performance you boo them off 🤷♂️ The self-entitlement is staggering.

We need to back the team tomorrow, who ever is left. The last thing they need is the toxicity spilling over onto the pitch for Saturday.
I’ll say it again, BACK THE TEAM TOMORROW.
