I watched Oklahoma! on Disney+ this weekend and it once again reminded me of the beauty of Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. Every time I listen to the songs, see the shows, or watch the film versions, it’s as if I am seeing or hearing them for the first time. I 💗 R&H @RnH_Org
I mean, if I had to describe them any other way, they are truly the “comfort food” of musicals. Whenever I feel sad or lonely, I always put on Oklahoma, South Pacific, or The King and I and they never fail to make me happy.
Rewatching The Sound of Music today made me realize how much I love and appreciate the musicals of @RnH_Org. Wonderful storylines, interesting characters, and of course, there’s the GORGEOUS SONGS.
Oscar Hammerstein II, scion of a notable theatrical family who became its most famous and honored member as a lyricist and librettist, was born July 12, 1895. https://t.co/DghjAXqC8z
