My name is Vivian Silver, and I was a 74-year-old Jewish activist for peace between Israel and Palestine when I was murdered by Hamas.

I co-founded Women Wage Peace, a group of over 50,000 people who have agreed to help "end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."

Before my death, I drove Palestinian children to hospitals in Israel. Three days before my death, I helped lead an interfaith unity rally in Jerusalem calling for the end of the conflict that was attended by 1,500 people.

“We, Palestinian and Israeli mothers, are determined to stop the vicious cycle of bloodshed and to change the reality of the difficult conflict between both nations, for the benefit of our children” our event said.

But I was killed on October 7th.

“It’s absolute chaos here,” I wrote in Hebrew at 7:54am on October 7th, according to text messages shared with NBC News.

“Terrorists have infiltrated Be’eri. There is shooting and screaming.”

For a while, it was unclear whether I was alive or dead.

Finally, news came that I was murdered in my home in Kibbutz Be'eri, one of the hardest hit kibbutzes on October 7th.

Anat Saragusti — a feminist activist — mourned my death in a post on X.

“Vivian was a woman of compassion and humanity, with an endless, deep and ongoing committment to Jewish-Arab partnership and peace,” Anat wrote.

“Yes, peace.”

When you say, “Free Palestine,” what do you mean, specifically?

I think a lot of you think it means peace and love for all. Palestinians get a state and you don’t have to think about the scary war anymore.

The problem is, that’s not what Palestinians mean. They literally want the destruction of Israel and will not settle for anything else. And the reason we know that is this is the choice that they’ve made over and over and over.

The deal they walked away from with Arafat in the 90s was astonishing, and even shared Jerusalem. Palestinians chose to continue fighting for the destruction of Israel instead.

Erst im Juni 2026 hat die UNRWA 70 Mitarbeiter in Gaza entlassen, nachdem eine US-Untersuchung (USAID Office of Inspector General) über 100 aktuelle oder ehemalige UNRWA-Mitarbeiter wegen Verbindungen zur Hamas bzw. Beteiligung am Angriff vom 7. Oktober 2023 zur Suspendierung oder Sperre von US-Mitteln empfohlen hatte.

On This Day — August 23, 1929

Nineteen years before the State of Israel was reborn, Arab mobs slaughtered Jews in Jerusalem.

After the imam’s sermon at Al-Aqsa, the cry “Attack the Jews” spread through the crowd. Mobs poured out of the mosque into the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Armed with clubs, knives, sabres, and pitchforks, they beat, stabbed, and murdered. Seventeen Jews were killed that day.

The violence exploded outward.

In Hebron the next day, 67 Jews (mostly Orthodox men, women, and children) were slaughtered in two hours. British officer Raymond Cafferata later testified that he saw an Arab cutting off a Jewish child’s head with a sword. He shot the attacker. Moments later, he found an Arab policeman from Jaffa bending over a blood-covered Jewish woman with a dagger in his hand. Most Arab policemen refused to intervene or joined the rioters.

The atrocities were systematic and sadistic: eyes gouged out, breasts mutilated, rabbis castrated, yeshiva students’ throats slit one after another, girls and grandmothers gang-raped. A baker was bound and roasted alive. In one house the only object left intact was a portrait of Theodor Herzl, which the killers draped with a woman’s blood-soaked underwear.

60% of Jewish villages across British Mandate Palestine were attacked, six were completely wiped out. Safed was hit next. Eighteen more Jews murdered.

Final toll: 133 Jews killed, 339 wounded.

The ancient Jewish communities of Hebron and Safed were erased. Survivors were evacuated under British escort. Hebron remained Judenrein for decades.

This was a coordinated pogrom of murder, mutilation, and terror directed at Jews almost two decades before Israel’s independence.

Hoe UGent academisch onderwijs de nek omdraait

Op haar website publiceerde @ugent onderstaande mededeling vol deugdzaam geweeklaag over de dood van Jason Arday. Men is 'geschokt', denkt aan de familie, maar verliest geen seconde tijd om meteen de eigen morele superioriteit, respect voor menselijke waardigheid en dappere strijd tegen discriminatie, haat en racisme te onderstrepen.

Volgens Petra de Sutter is academische vrijheid belangrijk, maar niet onbeperkt. En daarom gaat de universiteit 'gepaste maatregelen' nemen tegen @nathancofnas die duidelijke aanwijzingen voor plagiaat openbaar maakte. Dit klinkt als een schoolvoorbeeld van institutionele hypocrisie. Een onderzoeker wijst op plagiaat en valse claims. De betrokken professor treedt af en wordt kort daarna dood aangetroffen. De reactie van UGent is vervolgens niet: 'wij onderzoeken of de beschuldigingen klopten.' Nee. De reactie is: 'de boodschapper moet aangepakt worden, want zijn uitspraken zouden de menselijke waardigheid hebben geschonden.'

In de logica van deze rectoren is waarheidsvinding kennelijk discriminerend wanneer de beschuldigde de juiste huidskleur of het juiste verhaal heeft. Feiten zijn secundair. Gevoelens en het juiste narratief primair. En zo brokkelt de geloofwaardigheid van onze academische instellingen langzaam af. Dit is geen universiteit meer die de feiten voorop stelt. Dit is een universiteit die de boodschapper straft omdat de boodschap te ongemakkelijk was.

Als de feiten moeten buigen voor het politiek correcte sentiment, sterft het academisch onderwijs een stille dood. En UGent plaveit hiervoor de weg, met transgender Petra de Sutter als het uithangbord van de DEI-ideologie, die diversiteitscriteria en morele deugdzaamheid verheft boven objectieve wetenschappelijke integriteit.

Between 1894 and 1924, the Ottoman Empire and its successor state, modern Turkey, carried out one of the most systematic religious and ethnic purges in modern history.

Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks Christians were targeted.

Under Sultan Abdul Hamid II, the empire initiated its first large-scale assault on Christians, primarily Armenians and Assyrians.

In the eastern provinces, especially in Diyarbekir, Ottoman soldiers and Kurdish irregulars carried out coordinated massacres. Entire villages were leveled.

Men were butchered. Women and children were burned alive in churches. Somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000 Christians were slaughtered, an opening act to what would become a long nightmare.

The Young Turk regime, intoxicated with nationalist ideology, escalated the extermination effort during World War I.

Under the cover of war, the Armenian Genocide was launched. 1.5 million Armenians were deported, starved, raped, and murdered.

As Ottoman forces crushed resistance and restructured the empire, they turned against the Assyrian and Greek Christian populations.

In Pontus, Ionia, and Thrace, Greek communities were subjected to massacre, forced deportation, and labor camps.

The burning of Smyrna in 1922, under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s command, marked the final expulsion of Greeks from Asia Minor, ending 3,000 years of Hellenic presence.

In Hakkari, Tur Abdin, and northern Mesopotamia, Assyrian Christians were annihilated village by village.

Entire dioceses vanished. Ancient monasteries were looted, clergy executed, and Christian communities that had survived since the apostolic era were erased.

As documented in The Thirty-Year Genocide by Benny Morris and Dror Ze’evi, these three campaigns, Hamidian, Young Turk, and Kemalist, were ideologically linked, methodically executed, and religiously motivated.

Thousands of churches were desecrated or repurposed. Christian inscriptions were scraped off stone. Place names were Turkified.

The destruction of the Christian East wasn’t ancient history, it was the first modern genocide, and it set the blueprint for others to follow. Nazi officials studied the Armenian Genocide as a precedent.
