Maybe a bracket style with the finalists in each league, with the top ranked team serving as the host would work better.

@JohnSiteman @CHLMemorialCup I didn’t say it was plausible, possible or the answer. It was just a thought as Kelowna didn’t have the best showing.
But I’m fully aware of the logistics.
Also, NCAA has neutral site Frozen Four events and they’re huge. A different climate there, but still a fact.

This was tough because Kelowna was set to host in 2020 so their cycle was thrown off, but just a thought and discussion.

@simsauce @CHLMemorialCup No question. I’m just referring to a less than great on-ice showing. Kelown, Saint John a few years back and Saskatoon come to mind as really disappointing “hockey” efforts. But there’s no doubt the community was buzzing and the event was great.

This would give you the best 6 teams in Canada, a legitimate host and still attract scouts, media, national focus and the hype the tournament has always had.
Plus some more local interest from the teams involved in the league finals.

@AdjustedHockey This format is debatable and an argument can be made. But I think the 1-8 system is better. Regardless of how the points are accumulated, the current playoff format is poor.
