@Vodacom I haven't had fibre for a week. No communication from Vodacom or @OpenserveZA when issue will be resolved. Easiest option is to get another provider. Reference number SR250129-551923
@MalaizoS@duart87@tito_mboweni But our mines pay tax. If the government owned them they would be loss making and probably need to be bailed out. What evidence is there that they can run anything successfully?
@LeshThobs @Thandeka_M_ @tl_khumalo_ The government is paying to build the related sewerage, road and electricity infrastructure. The people that buy the units will pay for their electricity, water and municipal services.
@Kaiwingchun@BlockExtreme@TeddyVallee They don't drive inflation but implied inflation expectations - the difference between the yield on a normal government bond and the yield on a TIPS bond of equivalent maturity. If the FED drives TIPS yields lower, it would push up implied inflation expectations
@somadodafikeni@grootdawid@sphamindlos@bhebhe_nhlaka I agree that it's a case of least bad. However, the most dangerous aspect of the ANC is that they believe they will never be displaced. Appeasing a faction over the citizenry has become the primary objective of the ANC.
@Thabiso_Dlamean@ALLY8914 @newhope696 @PaddyBush@Politicsweb@GvanOnselen So you reckon tax revenue is going up through this time. Cigarette and booze ban costing us several billion rand in excise taxes plus lost VAT. One of the only countries in the world to have implemented bans. 90% of smokers getting cigarettes illegally.
@Mbonjeni1@carrynann@CyrilRamaphosa Long term smokers' lungs are already damaged. Stopping for the duration of lockdown wont reverse that. Same as secondary smoke while in lockdown is unlikely to significantly change the condition lead9ng in.
@Mbonjeni1@carrynann@CyrilRamaphosa The arguement isnt just about letting people smoke. It's more about the tax revenue (more than R30 million per day) lost at a time when we can least afford it. More tax revenue is what's needed to get people housing and kids toilets.
