If Jesus can turn water into wine, he surely does not need anyone to get water for him, does he? Of course not. So why does he ask the servants for help? Because that is the kind of person he is. He delights in including others in what he is doing.

“It is to be emphasized that Jesus Christ did not change God the Father, and neither does our faith. Before the creation of the world, the Father, Son and Spirit set their lavish and determined love upon us and have never wavered.“ —C. Baxter Kruger
“Moreover, since as Father, Son and Holy Spirit God is a fullness of personal Being in himself and the transcendent source of all personal being, all his actions toward us in making himself known are intensely personal.” —Thomas F. Torrance
If you can imagine the best, most encouraging, compassionate, and good dad, just keep going and only then are you beginning to understand the Father that Jesus came to reveal.
“It belongs to the essence of the gospel that God has come among us and become one with us in such a reconciling and miraculous way as to demolish the barriers of our creaturely distance and a estrangement from him…
God does not look away from sin. Instead, he stares it down, destroying it with the gaze of his fiery eyes. The incarnation proves that God, in Christ, has once and for all penetrated it, in order to get inside and heal us from the inside-out.
If God looked away from sin, as many suppose, that means he would be ignoring it. And anything ignored is destined to be unhealed. To quote T.F. Torrance, “The unassumed is the unhealed.”
God could not be satisfied with himself without doing all that a God and Father could do for the creatures he had made—that is to deliver his sons and daughters and bring them home with rejoicing.
We were created to live in union with distinction in relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In union we completely belong and in distinction we truly matter.
Union is not sameness and distinction is not separation.
Communion is the celebration of this mystical reality given to us by Jesus.
"When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you."
—John 14:20, NLT
"God made all beings to this end, to [enjoy the same union] of humanity and divinity that was in Christ."
—St. Maximus the Confessor (580-662)
“He caused things to be other than Himself that, being distinct, they may learn to love Him, and achieve union instead of mere sameness.”
—C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain
“Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate from his love, any more than anything can separate the Father and the Son from one another” —Thomas F. Torrance
A beautiful gesture of acceptance and love...💞
A girl with Down syndrome, got up during a papal talk, and went toward the Pope. The security men quickly moved in to take her back to her mother. The Pope stopped everyone and said to the girl, "come sit next to me.” The girl then sat down near him and the Holy Father continued to speak while holding hands with the little girl.
