I’ve always taken pride in showing up fully-giving 100% to the things, people, and causes that matter to me.
But over the last few months, I’ve had to confront a difficult reality: sometimes, I can’t be everywhere at once.
As I’ve embarked on the journey of pursuing graduate school, my focus and energy have been directed toward building the next chapter of my life. Along the way, I noticed fewer posts on my social media, less engagement with students, reduced involvement in volunteering, and even moments when I wasn’t as present in my church community as I would have liked.
A few people reached out to check on me because they hadn’t seen me online as much. And while I appreciated their concern, it made me reflect on something deeper.
I realized I had been measuring myself against an unrealistic standard-the belief that showing up always means giving 100%.
The truth is, life comes in seasons.
Some seasons require us to pour more into growth, learning, healing, or building. And during those times, showing up for yourself may not look like 100%. Sometimes, it looks like taking one small step forward each day.🙏🏾
Consistency doesn’t have to be loud.
Progress doesn’t have to be perfect.
And showing up doesn’t always have to be all or nothing.
I’m learning to give myself grace while staying committed to the journey. ❤️
What’s one area of your life where you’ve learned that consistency matters more than perfection?
