@hrwfilmfestival@POVdocs@SilenceofOthers@AlmuDocu@hrw@EmmaDaly The film has had a tremendous impact in Spain, and it has helped bring the stories of victims of Spain’s dictatorship to a whole new generation. More than 25,000 people saw it in theaters, and nearly a million people saw the film on public TV in April. #SilenceOfOthersPBS [1/2]
@hrwfilmfestival@SilenceofOthers@AlmuDocu@hrw@EmmaDaly In 2010, the story of Spain’s “stolen children” began to come out. We started to follow that thread, and it led us to explore the marginalization and silencing of victims of many Franco-era crimes, from extrajudicial killings to torture that took place as recently as 1975.
@hrwfilmfestival@SilenceofOthers@AlmuDocu@hrw@EmmaDaly@POVdocs I was drawn to documentary film because it brought together 2 things: my love of film production and my belief that stories of human rights and social struggles need to be told. Documentary film is where those elements can converge. [2/2]
