The United States committed 90 days of support for each refugee we received—$18 a day for basic needs. The current administration broke that promise, and now 891 refugees in Iowa (445 children) are left with nothing. Iowa is better than that…
Senators Brian Schatz and Chris Van Hollen have said that they will block votes on Trump nominees to protest Elon Musk's USAID coup.

Mexico & Canada did literally nothing to stop the Trump tariffs.
The stock market stopped the tariffs as Wall Street always assumed it would.
Everyone knew Trump couldn’t endure 1 full morning of stocks dropping.

NEW: A response to this from Krish O’Mara Vignarajah, President and CEO of Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service:
“Global Refuge condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the false accusations being lodged against our humanitarian work.”
6,000 families we serve @GlobalRefuge , who followed the legal process and did everything we asked of them, are now in limbo in this country due to the Stop Work Order refugee resettlement agencies received.
Incredibly grateful to @arishapiro and @alejanse_ for such a powerful report on what the suspension of the refugee program means for people like Reine and Jacombo.
Listen to the story below, including insight from @KrishVignarajah of @GlobalRefuge. 🎧

OK, John. Explain your votes against. Deb Haaland, Xavier Bacerra, Jennifer Granholm, Alejandro Majorkas, Marcia Fudge. Biden‘s victory was more decisive than Trump’s. What happened?
Trump's attempt to freeze government funding has energized Democrats in the House and Senate who are vowing to obstruct the President.

There is nothing definitive that can be drawn from the results in Iowa, but keep an eye on how Democratic candidates do if they press the cost of living issue.
The same issue that cost them in 2024 could power Democrats to victory in 2025 and 2026.

House GOP holding its conference at Mar-A-Lago. Are the lawmakers and staff staying there? Holding meetings and meals-- at full or enhanced price? With proceeds going directly to Donald Trump. The grift never ends.
“I've always believed it's the job of the press to hold power to account. I've always tried to do that here at @CNN, I plan on doing all of that in the future. One final message. Don't give in to the lies. Don't give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth. And to hope.” - @Acosta

Four years ago I wrote my inaugural poem The Hill We Climb. Both when I wrote it and performed it, I did so while continuously reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King’s legacy. I was (and am) blown away by how my words reverberated around the world; if anything, it proved to me that we honor King’s dream, by daring to dream big, and by, most importantly, daring to dream together. Only then will the loving fantasies of our better nature transform into reality. The work and fight for the dream persists, and what’s more, it is not just a fight, but fate—that perhaps we are as destined for this time as it is destined for us. What a worthwhile, powerful calling only we can answer. Here with you in the hill and the climb, and whatever light lies beyond, whatever light lies within.

Jeff Bezos's Washington Post editorial board has endorsed Pam Bondi as a "qualified" and "serious" pick for Attorney General.
Nowhere in the endorsement did they mention that she's a former Amazon lobbyist.
Billionaire control of our media is a threat to democracy.
