We arrived in Tampa last week and will be here through New Years while the ship undergoes regular maintenance.

I’ll be spending much of the winter in Florida this year. While I’m excited to see my friends down there and enjoy the weather, I’m appalled by recent legislation that all but makes it illegal to be gay or trans at Florida public schools.

It is heartbreaking and infuriating to see lawmakers passing laws that will undoubtedly lead to more young people dying because they do not get the love and support that they (and everyone) deserve.

The back deck is all lit up as we get ready for 17 days in the Gulf of Mexico exploring the ocean floor, our longest trip this year.
We’ll be visiting sites impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil gusher as well as a bunch of other spots.

That’s the Vehicle Assembly Building at Cape Canaveral viewed through haze from about 20 miles away as we sailed past this morning. I also saw multiple launch towers. SO COOL!
