@MoriartyCass Yeah, it's tricky. I've very happy to pay, just at a price that seems fair. The author I'm quoting died 50 years ago, so it's the estate's agent I'm haggling with.
I can see why there are so many Shakespeare and Plato epigraphs. Stick with the long-deados
Any writery people have experience with paying to quote a text for an epigraph (which I swore I'd never do).
I think writers should 1000% get paid. Also, been quoted $1000 dollarbucks to crib 19 words from a book from 1965 (for just AUS publication).
Is that the going rate?
