@CalebTheSpy@Ineverglow When we were like 9 years old, this was my friend Erik’s favorite album. I wonder how many 9 year olds were REALLY into Michelle Tumes?
@JBay_AllTheWay Many artists suffer attrition because it’s hard to sustain an emphasis on creativity. You can only live below the poverty line for so long before you start doing less music and take a full time job.
@indefenseofska College years, ~2007. Matt Campbell’s band The Attack were playing friend Matt Ross’ house. Neighbors called cops bc noise violation. Cops walked up to the band mid-song. Matt C held up his pointer finger and indicated they should let him finish the song. They did. @DeepVibration
@musicphanatic Human trafficking is indeed an awful issue, but the way the right wing paints the issue, the solution is to bust in with guns blazing and kill bad guys. That leaves no room for nuance and intensifies the Right’s wild idea that “there are evil pedophiles everywhere.”
@richardbass@DavidDark Henry, I’ve highlighted the bit I suspect is relevant to your question. Sounds like French pooh-poohed Bass &others who said Christian conservatives were acting like dominionists. Now French recognizes this is true, and Bass would like an apology. Anyone wanna affirm my hot take?
@henryjkwallis@DavidDark I don’t know anything about the dialogue between French & Bass. I was mostly responding to Bass’s tweet about Christian authoritarianism. It sounds like you specifically want info about Bass/French, and what apology is needed. Sorry I don’t know the answer.
@henryjkwallis It’s good to remember that operating from a “scarcity” mindset is very limiting. We can be mindful of the interplay between ourselves and our neighbors. We should find ways to help the veterans and the immigrant and the widow and… well, they’re not mutually exclusive, are they?
