River Rwizi with a length of 55.64 km & is the source for livelihood of people & livestock in the districts of Rubirizi, Bushenyi, Rwampara, Sheema, Buhweju, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Lwengo, Isingiro, Rakai & Lyantonde is under threat of extinction. This will affect the ecosystem, biodiversity & climate. Letβs save Rwizi by protecting it against encroachment of its river catchment areas through human activity esp farming.
Over the last 30 years, UCDA has been at the forefront of championing socio-economic transformation in the coffee sub sector.
UCDA interventions have seen coffee production & exports rise. In FY22/23, coffee production was 6.7m bags & exports totaled 5.76m bags worth US$ 846m.
When possible, please take the time to order your coffee from Uganda, whose growers produce some of the best in the world. This was grown by farmers in Kapchorwa District. Online purchasing makes it easy, even if it takes a few minutes of planning. @CoffeeUganda @JadaCoffee
The 20m bags target is possible if we bring everyone on board. UCDA is working with religious institutions to promote coffee growing. The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Repatrix- Ggogonya joined the coffee enterprise and have set up a model farm in Kisubi. Be the light.
