Did you know? Africa’s e-mobility market is projected to grow to USD 4.2 billion by 2030! Uganda is already leading the charge with bold plans to electrify motorcycles and public transport by 2030.

We are proud to have sponsored and participated in the 2025 National e-Mobility Expo that happened earlier this week at the Kiira EV Plant in Jinja, a platform shaping the continent’s clean, sustainable transport future.

Our Corporate Banking Director, Irene Mutyaba Kabiri, represented the bank on the panel discussion “Financing the Strategic Growth of the National e-Mobility Ecosystem” and shared how Absa is empowering Uganda’s e-mobility transition through innovative financing, sustainable partnerships, and a commitment to net-zero by 2050.

We have already begun financing this transition by making it possible for Uganda’s most popular mode of transport, the boda boda to access affordable electric alternatives, driving both economic opportunity and environmental sustainability.
