Was interviewed for this CNA report on foreign policy priorities of a Labour government. Building from work with @DrScottEdwards make the point that Labour likely to maintain the substance of Indo-Pacific tilt despite its earlier criticism of tilt rethoric https://t.co/UjAU386Dul
In a timely twist of fate, an article me and @RobertPAYates had accepted ages ago just came out - titled 'The Empire Has No Clothes? The UK, the Indo-Pacific ‘Tilt’, and Bargaining Towards a Southeast Asian Role'

@RobertPAYates and I have produced a short (2-pager) policy report on UK-ASEAN relations with @PolicyBristol.
This is based on our event supported by @BristolGIC , @CGSCLeeds , and @ycapsjapan

I still don't think the quad is the right structure for the UK to work through for various reasons (which seems to be one of the big recommendations), but pleased to see our evidence (@asmiatimalik and @RobertPAYates) referred to here.
Very thankful to everyone's contributions to this. We had people from every ASEAN member state, government representation from 5, and UK presence. Report coming soon aimed to inform how UK understands and approaches the region. So many opportunities.
@RobertPAYates (@BristolGIC) and I (@CGSCLeeds ) are hosting an IdeasLab on ‘UK-ASEAN Relations: Towards sustainable, enduring, and equitable partnerships’, in Bangkok.

Interesting article on a progressive realist foreign policy for Australia. Also instructive for progressives in the UK in formulating a response to the Integrated Review and especially Indo-Pacific tilt @DrScottEdwards@asmiatimalik
Must read article by @NickBisley@ShaharHameiri @JessMKirk_ @GeorgeLawsonIR@DrBeeZee in @AustJIA that should be on every IR course reading list. Time to slay some liberal sacred cows & think realistically about advancing progressive foreign policy goals https://t.co/PDjYqzdKSv
@LiamPM What dates are you in Seoul? I'm there until 16th September. Maybe we could grab a beer if there's some overlap? A place we go to a lot for Korean food is Hanilkwan in Ferrum Tower. For great views it's worth checking out the mountain trails like Namsan, Bukhansan and Inwangsan.
