UK's Foreign Secretary Cooper recalled how Kosovo welcomed England players in a stirring conclusion to her speech:

Every 🇽🇰 fan in the stadium held up a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Saint George's flag and amidst them all a banner which read 'You gave us hope for freedom.'

They waved our flag with pride, they applauded our anthem with warmth, they sang the name of our Queen because they remembered how Britain had stood with them.

That is what our country stands for around the world, that is what we must always continue to be: a force for good, a force for peace, and a force for hope.

Today my thoughts are with the Srebrenica victims and their families, and I am grateful to HRH the Duchess of Edinburgh for representing the UK at the 30th anniversary in BiH.

I will be using my hosting of Western Balkan Foreign Ministers later this year under the Berlin Process to look at what more can be done to strengthen the process of reconciliation among all communities in the region.
