My motto for this era:
John Dee@iohndee
There is nothing I can say about the current iteration of the American government that is simultaneously harsh enough and that won't get me into trouble, so I shall say nothing at all.
Police officer becomes a whistleblower and says that Flock Safety Cameras are not what were being told they are
He says they are not just capturing license plates, they are capturing everything and being used for mass surveillance without a warrant, “It records the make, the model, color, bumping stickers, you name it — it's a very sophisticated AI software that uses a camera system to track and monitor every vehicle that goes by the camera lens”
“This information is shared city to city and even state to state without a warrant”
“Your consent was never required nor even asked for or even thought about when your city governments was putting up this new technology.
For example, the chief of the Pateka Police Department, she was confronted by a local reporter on this very question of what gave them the right to put up these cameras without consulting the public. Her response was, so the criminals wouldn't know about it and avoid detection. So there you go. That's their best argument about”
He says he brought up concerns about privacy and transparency and in return he was suspended without pay
He says we are headed the same way as the soviets and China
He says this is what you’re told by authority, “If you are worrying about it, it's because you have something to hide.
The philosophy that this innovation is already grounded on is already proven to be rotten. It's grounded on this idea that you, the citizen, are first and foremost a potential suspect or potential defendant that needs to be tracked and monitored for your safety and for the safety of others. It's the same philosophy that the Soviets and many authoritarian states during the 20th century adopted, and we all know how that worked out for them. It's the same philosophy that the Chinese are currently adopting right now and they have a similar surveillance system”
Keep in mind I’ve also shared videos of the Flock camera called “Condor”
This goes beyond vehicles and actually tracks you as you walk by. The cameras follow you, can zoom in and automatically detect you in areas
This goes way beyond license plate reading. This is the mass surveillance network being established in America
We are right around the corner from a police state
@realDianaWest@kraymagnon Bill Barr was one of those DC "permanenti" who seemed to mesmerize people into believing in his integrity, especially those who should have known better. I know somebody who worked in Quayle's office. She was a Barr supporter to the bitter end.
@JerryLittleB52@4CubaLibra@mattvanswol No because the extent of this surveillance rises to the level of just that--government surveillance. They need a warrant for that.
@local_salty@AprilSpark1890 Being offended by speech is not being the victim of criminal action. No court in this country would back this babe with a badge.
@AprilSpark1890 Of course, she's an idiot.
The local police pull these stunts even though they know their actions violate 1st amendment. An arrest,. however unconstitutional, serves their purposes of intimidation. The process is the punishment. I hope he sues this city.
Woman who lives in Virginia says her county alone has over 50 Data Centers and now they are being asked to conserve both power and water
“Our temperatures are about to hit an average of 120° across the state, but you want us to preserve water and power so the data centers can run, and we're going to be the ones fitting the bill for all that power that gets used up”
She’s absolutely correct I verified that parts of Virginia are sending conservation requests to residents
For those that don’t know how bad it is in Virginia
Data Center Alley alone in Northern Virginia hosts the world’s largest concentration of data centers, around 600–685 facilities with many more planned
Things are only going to get worse
@JohnnyWhiskyTX The US and Texas both have a far bigger problem than we realize. The quantity of native converts is growing in the areas of Muslim concentration. MI, MN, NYC, Jersey suburbs, SoCal, and TX. This includes a growing body of Latin converts--no not jailed people, ordinary people.
@realDianaWest Do you ever get the feeling that the American government is still set up to fight the Great Depression and to fight the Cold War even though we're well beyond both? NATO's problems start at the conceptual level: As you ask, What is NATO defending these days?
Flock and Flock-like cameras track where law-abiding people go, who they visit, and how they live - all without a warrant.
I attempted to stop this with an amendment, which unfortunately failed recently in Committee; that’s not the end of this, though. The mass surveillance of the American People must end. Call your legislators.
STOP THE FLOCK.
@realjakejacks I'm of the same mind. Anybody who sees efforts like Amendment 5 and SB 4 must ask themselves, "Whose interests does this party serve?" As for Gov. Kehoe, he's very much a 1990 era, St. Louis area D politician. He's the head of a patronage machine called the Republican Party.
@barnes_law@DowdEdward Obviously, we needed the formal study to back up this assertion. However, the fact stared everybody in the face for years. You can't get away with increasing demand for everything without prices going up.
@naomirwolf Exactly. People have been pointing out this oddity for a while now. If I were to encounter one of them on the street I'd say, "Government man."
"We have cameras everywhere in that town and you cannot get a breath of fresh air without us knowing"
When police are admitting this out loud, it's time to admit the cage isn’t coming, we're already inside it.
