@AndrewHWestern@Keir_Starmer Nigel Farage is a direct product of Keir Starmer. And so is Restore. If Keir wants to know why the protests occurred (whether you agree with them or not), he just needs to look in the mirror.
The Labour government, and the conservatives before them, are totally out of their depth. Businesses and employees are taxed to the point where actually earning money vs the cost of living is impossible. All we hear about is weak stats that gloss over the major issues we face as a country. And of course, breakfast clubs, benefits and millions spent here and there that we cannot afford. Starmer is a terrible PM and his cabinet are just as bad.
@RachelReevesMP Why does this sound like an idea from a communist regime? I’m sure there was a certain German leader with similar ideas? The government is so out of touch that they believe these ideas are what was missing prior to the local elections.
I didn’t expect so many likes and comments. The overall problem is a mixture of taxes, including council tax, corporation tax, and income tax, alongside the rising cost of running the property. I should also say that bookings are way down this year, probably due to the cost of living. I do appreciate that everyone’s tax situation is different, and the barn could work for some people. But I really would like to know how a small traditional UK business has any chance of earning a profit.
@RachelReevesMP@RupertLowe10@Nigel_Farage@Keir_Starmer@bbclaurak Rachel Reeves, I planned carefully for retirement.
A North Norfolk holiday-let barn was meant to provide income, pay tax, employ cleaners, use local trades and support a holiday letting business.
On an example £1,000 booking, after the £180 commission, £150 cleaning and laundry costs, £50 electricity, £40 water and £40 council tax, only £540 remains before maintenance and repairs. After 25% corporation tax, that falls to £405. If the remaining income is then taxed at 40%, the owner is left with just £243 from the original £1,000 booking.
Remember, this is before allowing for any maintenance, repairs, insurance or mortgage costs. And the electrical PAT testing last year was needed. Now that company will receive no further income.
It is becoming impossible for a small Limited company to earn money.
How coffee shops, pubs, guesthouses and other small businesses survive with staff, rent, tax, regulation, insurance and rising costs is beyond me.
Make small enterprise pointless and people stop doing it.
Then government gets no tax.
Cleaners get no work.
Agents get no commission.
Local trades lose jobs.
That is not growth.
I searched ‘best trainers’ using AI, no website was cited other than some tiny source links. Why would publications such as Runners World bother to spend their time testing trainers? I’m unsure why Gemini doesn’t say, here’s what I would recommend and by the way, checkout the source material with proper citation.
