"It's a weird situation", Lorenzo Brown said after yesterday's win over Milan regarding what Maccabi Tel Aviv is going through at the moment.
And despite all of that, he keeps on being one of the best - if not the best - playmakers in the EuroLeague: 16.2 points and 8.8 assists (1st in the whole competition) per game with 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals.
While already posting up three double-doubles against Valencia, Milan, and Panathinaikos, he's shooting with excellent percentages both from beyond the arc (43.3% over a total of 30 attempts) and at the charity stripe (93.3%, missing only one free throw since the start of this year's EuroLeague).
He surely loses the ball way too much (4.8 turnovers per game, the highest mark in the competition), but the Israeli team runs a lot (3rd in PACE with 72.6 according to @Cappe90) and needs to give the ball mostly to the 33-year-old playmaker to make things going.
After his 2020-21 season with Fenerbahce, everybody thought he wouldn't have the right talent to bring a EuroLeague team to success. Instead, first with UNICS Kazan and now with the yellow-and-blue powerhouse - while also dragging Spain to gold at 2022 EuroBasket -, he has been doing it pretty well.
If Facundo Campazzo was still in the NBA and not comfortable in his place at Real Madrid, there wouldn't be any doubt that Maccabi Tel Aviv's leader would be the best all-around creator in Europe. Even in this tough situation.
