Oh no! Not Again!

Imagine another Kenyan has died in police custody. @VOCALAfrica_ has just been contacted to offer assistance.

40 years old Alan Kamau Kimani was arrested on Thursday, 25th September for allegedly cutting down trees. He was taken to Komomwamu Police Post in Kuria West, Migori County. Kimani’s mother, Mary Wambui, said she was informed of Kimani's arrest by a police officer through a phone call and went to see him at the police post.

She claims she was asked to part with Kshs. 15,000 to have Kimani released, an amount she didn’t have. The next day Friday, 26th September, Wambui received a call from an officer at the police post who allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she does not go with the money.

A few hours later on the same Friday, she received another call from the same officer, this time informing her of her son’s death.

Wambui says police told her that Kimani committed suicide while in custody. These claims have raised a lot of concerns and tension in the area. The family is now calling for the arrest of the police officers involved and justice for their kin.

26-year-old Simon Warui disappeared from Umoja on Sunday, September 21. By Thursday, he was dead inside Central Police Station, Mombasa. The police spin? That he ‘fell from a wall in the cells.’

Simon leaves behind a young wife and a 3-year-old child. A family shattered, a child robbed of a father, a wife turned into a widow all because the State has normalized killing in custody.

This is systemic murder. UDA has turned police stations into slaughterhouses, and every Kenyan should be outraged.

A government that kills its young men and then lies about it cannot claim to serve the people. It rules by fear, not by law. Simon’s blood, like Baby Pendo’s , Albert Ojwang’s and others will forever stain

#Justice4SamsonOumaWanda who was arrested in a police swoop on Sunday, 7th September in Kitale. He was taken to court on Monday, 8th September and then back to the station.

Family claims Samson told them he was seriously beaten at the police station before being transferred to Kitale Main Prison. Family followed up and managed to see him while in Prison on Sunday 14th September where he confirmed that he was beaten while at the police station.

As the family was working to get Samson released from Prison, on Tuesday 16th September they were called by the Prison and told that Samson died and his body is lying at the morgue.

Samson leaves behind a wife and two daughters,
