A dying mother’s final wish was simply to see her son one last time. Chinmoy Krishna Das was denied even that, and was granted only five hours of parole after her death to perform her last rites.

This revered Hindu monk has spent years in jail for speaking up for the rights of Hindus in Bangladesh. A man who never harmed a living being has falsely been framed in a lawyer’s murder case and locked away without justice. He remains behind bars to this day.

Those responsible for keeping him behind bars and denying him basic human compassion must be held accountable. The facsist Yunus administration and the current BNP government cannot evade responsibility for the consequences of the injustice inflicted on Chinmoy and his family.

This girl is apparently a doctor, yet she is publicly mocking a cadaver.

A cadaver is not a prop, or an object for cheap humour. It is a human being who chose to donate their body for medical education and scientific advancement after death.

When students enter medical college and step into the dissection hall, they take a cadaveric oath, a solemn pledge that serves as a tribute to body donors. The cadaver is regarded as the student's "first teacher" to foster empathy, ethics, gratitude, and respect for human dignity.

During my first year of MBBS, our cadaver was a retired Brigadier. We treated him with dignity because we understood that we were learning from a person who had made a conscious, and rare in Indian society, decision for the benefit of future patients and future doctors.

Mocking a cadaver and making lewd remarks about the body's private parts is not edgy, funny, or bold. It reflects a complete failure to understand one of the most basic ethical principles taught in medicine: respect for human dignity, even after death.

It may or may not attract liability under the BNS, but it is unquestionably conduct that falls far below the ethical standards expected of a medical professional.

The @NMC_IND should take cognizance of this matter and ensure that such behaviour has consequences.

There was also a boy on the same show who made derogatory remarks about a girl who was apparently his date, and he is rightly facing the consequences of his actions. This girl should be held to the same standard.

Last week, I was invited to attend and speak at the ‘PM’s Roundtable with Global Energy Leaders’ on the sidelines of the India Energy Week.

This was the first official meeting I attended after the tragedy in our family. I am very grateful to Pradhan Mantri ji who expressed his condolences and deep sympathy for my loss. His advice that my wife and I stay strong and continue to do our work which is important for the country, provided great solace.

I took the opportunity to inform him that I have already announced that 75% of my wealth will go back to society. I will cease to be a promoter and will work as a trustee.

Very humbly, in keeping with the wishes of my late son, I put forward a request to do something big in education or healthcare or anything else that can benefit society. I would like to put in Rs10,000 crore-Rs 15,000 crore in such an effort. I am thankful to the PM for appreciating the sentiment.

We are lucky to have a PM who not only has eyes and ears on the ground but also possesses great empathy towards all Indians.

His words are a massive support to our family as we try and pick up our lives after tragedy and grief.

Until now, the minimum qualifying criterion for PG medical seats for SC, ST, and OBC candidates was the 40th percentile, about 235 marks out of 800.

As per an order of the Ministry of Health, this has been reduced to the 0th percentile, meaning even a score of –40 out of 800 is now eligible, subject to seat availability.

The one profession that directly deals with life and death, where competence should be sacred and non-negotiable,has been dragged down to this level. Perhaps this is the only country in the world where such a dangerous dilution of standards is not just tolerated, but actively encouraged.
