@keithjones84 When I worked at Plessey, Cheapside, in the 1970s, I used to park on that rough ground from time-to-time. Everybody piled on into every available space. At 5 o'clock, you had to wait by your car until the car park gradually un-blocked, and you could get a path out to the exit.

@soulrebelno1 @BBCArchive @angiesliverpool I started at Quarry Bank in 1960. By the end of my first year, Pobjoy banned corporal punishment many years ahead of his time.
Some of the older teachers seemed to resent this. 'Masher' Martin (Art) had names for his canes. Cliff Cooke (Woodwork) also resented it.

@angiesliverpool My mum and dad, who were from Toxteth, carried on the washing the step every week tradition when they moved to Aigburth. In fact, my first pocket money (3d) was in payment for washing our step. Probably a few years before this.
