@KassLover1 This is a bit like saying doubling the amount of dungeons would make the game better. like. sure maybe, but that takes a lot of work and coordination
The tree branch being replaced by a target is another change that makes perfect sense if you think about it for two seconds
The sacred grove has one tree in it, itโs existence implies it could be intractable, the remake has a billion trees, one more could easily go unnoticed
Ok, this is the only HQ B-Roll footage I could find of the Lost Woods with no one talking over it...
The MUSIC!!! I love that rendition of the theme, it's so haunting and has a much different vibe than the OG.
I wonder if it changes between child and adult.
@BilsuArt gamers think they are more clever then they really are. they thought they were smart for figuring out how to get up there as a kid, and dont realize the invisible hands of the devs guided them there all along
in my opinion, if Wood is going to remain hookshotable, that needs to be a consistent property of all wooden objects, which i dont think is even consistently true in Oot64 & that's away bigger ask here in a remake thats far more visually dense.
there are other potential solutions to this, make the tree look worn or out of place in a unique way that allows it to stand out, or somthing. but the room had to be changed to make it work in the new visual style, to leave it as is would be sloppy design work.
@TraysonL Oh! Well I appreciate it lmao. Iโm sure Totk will be great. For all the slack I give BotW, the fellas at Nintendo are still competent designers, and Iโm sure they understand itโs flaws just as much as I do.
its interesting looking at promotional material for Ocarina of time and realizing that it being 'the greatest video game of all time' was a narrative constructed and marketed to people even before it released. you don't see that kind of dynamism and confidence in marketing now

apparently this was an intentional design decision on their part, there is no reason it had to be like that. its really quite convoluted. god i love zelda 1
@cdranzer87@DDwili 2001. My first decade was almost entirely gba/ds/gamecube. The zelda collectors edition anthology was where I spend a decent chunk of my time
