MacEwan University Library is hiring TWO tenure-track librarians specializing in OER/copyright or writing with liaison areas: English or Nursing. Review of applications start Feb. 1. https://t.co/k9nKPOEp7U
Spent the last few months exploring why there’s a lack of community-based research outputs on library-hosted digital platforms. Excited to be presenting some of this research today at #OTESSA23#Congress23. Slides/notes available: https://t.co/Hswa8VHhob
THIS IS LIBRARIANSHIP 💯
"a space where libraries can support strategically excluded communities toward the aim of pushing against these structural injustices, especially by providing publishing avenues to amplify social concerns + work for a more humane collective future."
@astrobri You are the absolute best conference tweeter I know. Also really appreciated your talk and research into green OA. So important. Hope to see you again in person someday. :)
I wrote a book! Plan S for Shock is a story about open access to research: what it is, why it's important, and what the future of publishing looks like. Out today! You can buy a print copy from @ubiquitypress or download via open access (for free!) here: https://t.co/mdl9zAKUHX
@DrBoulianne @karenkeiller @journalqd@CogitatioMaC What really hurts my head is that I think these accelerated publication charges are in addition to equally high OA fees. Thankfully we’re figuring out alternatives. Soo grateful for CRKN’s work. And to you for supporting our OA efforts. 🙂
@karenkeiller a) Share pre-prints/drafts via repositories at conferences & when needing to rapidly share early results, and b) don’t buy into it. Lots of publishers offer reasonable turnaround without taking advantage of authors’ $ & unpaid reviewers time. Not a big fan of T&F these days. 👎
"The merger pushes this market to the brink of a monopoly and tilts control of the research ecosystem further toward the largest commercial players—and away from the best interests of the research community." Our statement on the Clarivate-ProQuest merger: https://t.co/KY6UYMmpgl
@karenkeiller Hopefully we’re getting past the Google envy. I appreciate the expanded view on adding tools and workflows the work referenced seems to be getting at. Let’s also aim for being vendor neutral (sigh sigh).
