@dopaminern@DrewSav It was a super blue county, extremely Latino and probably a good chunk of people that don't speak English. Due to the border and conservative cultural issues they started turning redder and finally flipped to Trump in 2024. They also voted for prop 8 back in the day by 39.4%
@DaYankeeswin23@VoteHub San Diego is different than the IE counties, it's much more of its own urban area. Some people commute from Temecula and work in SD county. I think that explains a lot of the difference
@MassJumbo Yeah that stood out to me when I saw it and it makes a lot of sense. They probably figure electing a sheriff as governor would help the prison they do have survive and that he would be more likely to bring back the other prison
@indigenoustgirl@VoteHub Yeah very true. Steyer doesn't need to go up as much down here, if Bianco goes up it makes the same difference if mail-ins favor him. Hard to see that happening though given the consolidation towards Hilton near the end
@indigenoustgirl@VoteHub I mean yeah if he gets +11 or +12 down south he might make it but if he gets closer to +15 he can overtake despite shortcomings in some rural counties
@indigenoustgirl@VoteHub LA, Orange, San Bernardino (which was bad for Steyer), Riverside, and SD. All of those counties have more people than any one county in the bay and combined are above 20M
