Dismal legacy: wrecking things that do not need to be torn down, building up things to one's own notoriety, ruining friendships, creating animosities, stoking fears.
Pope Leo: โSome forms of entertainment lead to more to loneliness. The true place where Christians can find rest and encounter God lies not out there in the chaos, but within ourselves, in the depths of our soul. And this realization must be passed on. For example, our willingness to help and to practice love for our neighbors. And not only toward tourists, but also toward those who far from their homeland plead for refuge, food, and support.โ
Weekly Torah portion is Parshat Ki Teitzei: #Deuteronomy 21:9 thru chapter 25.
Difficult passage in ways: an imperative for holiness in the camp, and always an obligation to keep the best interests of others in mind.
"...that Adonai your God may #bless you..." Deut. 24:19 TLV
"[Your crew] ..always in pursuit of knowledge, safety, and protecting each other." T'Pring as a puppet, to Spock

One of the hardest things to overcome on the mission field is the idea that America is a Christian nation. People hear that and then point to atrocities committed by America and want no part of that "Western religion." Trying to label America "Christian" makes missions harder.
My project this afternoon is traditional sandwich #bread loaves, sweetened with honey and a bit of molasses, a nod to my delightful Grandma Muckey! A blend of King Arthur #Baking Company all purpose and whole wheat flours, as well as golden flaxseed meal. #homebaking#homebaker
From the Canaanite woman we learn humility and determination. Thanks to her faith, we learn that Godโs table is set for everyone and that no one is left merely with crumbs, because each person has his or her own place with the Father. In the light of this faith, inequalities, discrimination and barriers that trample on the dignity of too many of Godโs sons and daughters become unbearable. #GospelOfToday (Mt 15: 21-28)
The weekly Torah portion is Parshat Shoftim: #Deuteronomy 16:18 through 21:9. This portion begins with the well known #justice imperative.
"...you shall not show favoritism... Justice, justice shall you pursue..." Deuteronomy 16:19-20 Rosenberg
