Richest owners in world football, but not allowed to spend in order to build a squad to compete.
Yet thd biggest clubs can sit in hundreds of millions of debt, yet can still spend more than us.
Corrupt joke of a sport. Part of me wants it all to collapse down
Back to back 17th place finishes in the Premier League and dropping £85m on a relegated player.
Villa who have finished in Europe in each of the last 4 seasons and won the Europa League this season have to sell to buy.
Both of #AVFC's owners are billionaires.
Sad.
£150k of this fine, btw, is for delaying the restart of the Chelsea game.
You know, when they did a huddle around the ball when we were trying to take the restart.
Make it make sense. 🤷♂️

Sunderland qualify for Europe for the first time since 1973 after being promoted from the Championship and having an amazing season.
Now one of the 'Big Six' sweeps in and will buy their captain and talisman and there is nothing Sunderland can do about it.
Will not be able to match the wages of Chelsea so its back to the drawing board for them.
Welcome to the PSR and SCR scam, Sunderland football club.
Elliot Anderson overcame tragedy to become record signing of an English player. He became No6 by accident but is now England's Andrea Pirlo 🏴🏆🥅⚽️ https://t.co/sioV3aclsA
6 clubs being able to spend as they please. The other 14 having to sell to buy. What a fun, fair and competitive league.
Well done @premierleague for finally getting the super league through.
How is this even permitted? Spending £116m on Anderson while 115 charges and a pending sanction loom over the club is a complete mockery of the Premier League’s regulatory framework.
The system is fundamentally broken when a club can operate with total financial impunity while the very integrity of the sport hangs in the balance.
Fair play to Forest though for commanding such a high fee, but the GAME IS GONE
Rules are a disgrace, feel for #NUFC fans
#AVFC have fared slightly better because we also had Europe between our Champions League seasons, but if we drop the ball once this is what will happen to us.
Chelsea and Spurs will spend net 500 million this summer like it's nothing
Love Elliot Anderson, but that’s an absolutely incredible price.
Roughly the same Villa have spent on players in the last two seasons combined.
Just a different sport isn’t it.
@monsieur_robesp Definitley over Anderson. But for group stages I would have only one CDM as such....no need at all for that defensive set up agaisnt a team who is sitting in a block.
As for Mandueke and Gordon?? Give me a break! There are a few better who didn't even get in squad!
I understand the rules, but finishing 4th and winning a European trophy only to then have to sell a top player and buy from the bargain basement is tough to swallow. Hopefully new revenue streams will give more wriggle room in years to come. #avfc
And ain’t that the truth….
I’ve heard all the arguments for financial regulation. I understand them.
But it’s a system where what you did 10 years ago, topped up by how many concerts and NFL games you can get and how many shirts you can sell abroad restricts your capability.
🟣NEW: Aston Villa transfer special 🔵
⭕️EXC: #avfc stance on Rogers
⭕️Curse of 'the rules' (as Spurs bid 80m for Tonali🙄)
⭕️Wide men update incl Barnes, Martinelli, Mbaye
⭕️New deals for min. three key men
⭕️Key: back-to-back CL amid UEFA rules 😡

More than ever, it feels like UEFA rules are set up to reward clubs who can generate huge revenue off the pitch, rather than those who do very well on it. This is what #avfc are forever up against.
Aston Villa won the Europa League and finished fourth, and are a team who have caused #Arsenal problems in recent years. Taking their best player, and the one who has caused us havoc is the kind of power play move champions make. Morgan Rogers will be a monster signing for us.
Ollie Watkins on the art of being an impactful sub. “I was speaking to Jude (Bellingham) about it because he was asking me, ‘what's your mentality?’ As you know, you're not going to play. I said I felt like there's no pressure on me, people don't see me playing. They see Harry (Kane) playing, but I know what I can bring to the table.
"I watch the game when I'm on the bench. I see the game open up. It's a completely different game when you start a game to when you finish it. There's so many more opportunities when you come on, a lot of people are tired, they lose focus. Sometimes it can be better to be a substitute then to start. I watch carefully what the opposition player is doing because when you come on the field, then you get that opportunity to punish them.”
Probably because in 2010s a group of clubs put in place self serving rules that meant even where a club qualified into the CL, won the EL and then qualified again into the CL (all with a wage bill 30% off the top teams) it’s still forced to sell their best player to the Champions
Tom Hanks: "There's nothing greater for an American than having an English team locked into their soul. I've had discussions with Leeds fans - I just feel sorry for them because they're not Aston Villa! You become a fan for life." [@restisents]
