I really don't get the whole anti-AI lobby for code. Coding is one of the most obvious choices for AI tooling, because its invisible to the end user who only cares about whether the app works well or not, while being a massive time multiplier for getting things done on the development side.

And for all those complaining that AI code is bad for other coders, I'm happy you have coding standards but have you see the quality of code being shipped by some regular coding fleshbags? Who also consume water and take up valuable planet resources?

Bad coders have been a problem for literally EVERY software project long before AI. The difference is, AI is getting better and more efficient by the day, and human coders are not. C'est la vie. No one is going to stop you writing your own code, but trying to stop others is like trying to stop others driving cars while you ride around on your perfectly servicable horse.

The demise of subscription software cannot come soon enough 💣

And yes, I realise that is exactly what AI is (for now). But I feel it ticks more of the service box like broadband or hosting, where you are paying for a consumable resource.

Software (at least the user-facing stuff) is a tool, and you shouldn't have to be forced into a subscription for your tools.
