The #Coronavirus requires us to wear masks that cover our mouths. consequently, hearing-impaired people can't communicate using lip-reading.
With @bengurionu, we've created a no-vapors mask which allows easy breathing and lip-reading!

בעבר קראו למחלה הזאת גְּרִיפָּה, על פי שמה בצרפתית. אך כבר בתרנ"ג (1893) הציע בן־יהודה בעיתון הצבי את החלופה 'שַׁפַּעַת'.

בן־יהודה חידש את המילה תמורת המילה הלועזית influenza (במקור מאיטלקית), אם כן שם המחלה 'שפעת' קשור ל'השפעה' בהשפעת השם הלועזי.

This week we have started making face masks using our 3D printers!
We donated 50 masks to the city's essential workers: supermarket employees, bank employees and clinics employees.
We are currently producing 100 masks for a hospital in Pardes Hanna.
