There are plenty of multilingual people pointing out the problems with Japanese to English localization, but it's actually quite easy to identify some of the issues even if one is not fluent in both languages.
For example, there is no context where "yamero" is "end fascism" or "I don't need it" is "I'd cut my uterus out if I could" & even someone who doesn't know Japanese can understand that.
The constantly parroted "no language is 1:1" bit really doesn't work when we have more resources than ever to know & understand the context to see that all of these cases of botched translation are, in fact, very translatable.
This is just another way to be dismissive to those they disagree with despite being factually correct.
@ChristianHeiens It's okay for California to purposefully gerrymander to spite Texas (which changed districts due to an influx of new hispanic voters), but it's bad for Tennessee to purposefully avoid making districts based on race? Sounds kinda racist. And hypocritical.
Snowbreak just came back after 2 months of maintenance, and it’s completely censored.
Chinese feminists and regulators forced the devs to nuke the game’s entire identity.
Massive censorship list from today’s update:
- Models censored even harder than before.
- New characters have nerfed proportions.
- Jiggle physics has been completely removed.
- All menu/lobby/idle/victory animations gone.
- No gacha or summon animations.
- No character trailer animations.
- Paid background interactions (on paid costumes) deleted.
- Story heavily revamped/censored (especially Acacia parts).
- Decensor method patched out forever.
- Archive system removed.
- Can’t rotate models in the menu or skin showcase.
- No free camera / spectate.
- Newest version has no ENG or KR voices (defaults to JP).
- ALL costumes over-censored (worse than CN versions).
- Shower scenes allegedly removed (reports ongoing).
- Ultimate skill animations are also gone.
This is the standard NA/EU/Global bypass completely deleted.
Snowbreak’s whole appeal was the unapologetic fanservice and self-insert romance. They have removed the soul of the game.
The ardent defenders of lolcalization will parrot the typical localizer talking point that the Japanese dialogue is "too boring" while simultaneously praising localizers turning all Japanese scripts into the same carbon copy quip-filled mockery of the original.
They don't actually like Japanese media, they only like the anime aesthetic combined with goofy Western writing & sensibilities.
Data and analyses show that when tracking politically motivated violence based on common political views the left is responsible for nearly EVERY single incident
The Methodology for this assessment was NOT based on political views endorsing violence but for violence where the motivations were underlined by common political views.
@Hebro_Steele@EveKeneinan According to bodycam, today's "the talk" appears to go something like "the cops will fuck you any chance they get. So escalate as much as possible, then fight and/or run, and then when they put you in the squad car, scream that you didn't DO nothing and you cant breathe"
What I find fascinating here is that these black youths show no fear while fighting the police. If you think back a mere five years ago, the media, academics, and the Al Sharptons were all apoplectic over how black kids feared the police. We heard, driving while black, shopping while black, eating while black. When I covered the George Zimmerman trial, black kids wore buttons with Trayvon Martin's face on it and the words, "Am I next?" (I have the footage somewhere.) That phrase increased in popularity especially after Michael Brown. But now there's no talk of that fear anymore. It was a lie, a white guilt accusation against America that could be exploited for power.
Obama is lying.
Pre this ruling, we had effectively MANDATED MAXIMUM racial gerrymandering...that's why Democrats got 2 free seats in Louisiana.
Look at this image, look how UNBELEIVABLY gerrymandered those 2 blue gashes are!
