Everyone is talking about the lack of Haikyuu but honestly there's a lack of anime in general, and sorry but this list is so bad? There's soooo many normie ships, I feel like TikTok people are starting to flood Ao3 for good
I've seen ppl say they won't watch shows just bc it has CHEATING in it (moonlight chicken) gmmtv sees that and moves accordingly I don't think it has anything to do with ships actually.
I also want to ad that fandom is now made it normal to disengage completely with "problematic content" usually themes with complexity, nuance and moral ambiguity. So that also limits engagement. Nothing is allowed to be explored and gmmtv knows that+
That is why they heavily censor most of their shows. It's why they erase all nuance bc they rightfully don't trust audiences to be able to critically think about them and enjoy the story. And they don't mind this actually it's less expensive less risky and easier.
And sometimes y'all are too fandomed brained to realize that. These actors are talent marketed to us by a company. This company functions like all other companies that produce art. Art and business never mix well. Art comes with risks and gmmtv isnt always willing to risk it.
I also want to say that gmmtv. Is a production company. Production companies/studios have purposefully sabotaged projects that they do not want for decades as a way to cut costs (think Disney with treasure planet) gmmtv is still a business +
The cute tropefied BLs are easier to mass market to larger audiences. More complexity, nuance, and moral ability usually calls for a higher rating meaning they can't mass market it to -18/-20 audiences. This is a business
Why care about the quality of production at all when they can heavily market a ship and rely on their popularity to fuel engagement? Thats how businesses work. Sometimes it isn't us the audience that is unwilling to engage.
This is the same company experimenting with using AI and slowly introducing it in their content. I lowkey think burnout syndrome is criticism aimed at gmmtv itself. Why spend the money scouting locations when they can use the same 5 locations bc their next BLs are in university?
They don't want to spend the money making higher quality plots for adults bc it can be a risk. It doesn't have the same mass market appeal, it doesn't sell as well and never really has. That along with not want to spend the money to get the quality.
What about talent? What about hardwork?? Everyone deserve the same treatment. I am so done with trendings as an equivalent of how the actors deserves to be treated.
