The Leo Carlsson offer sheet says one thing to NHL owners: don’t sit on cap space. Don’t hover near the floor. Don’t be cheap - your young talent will either leave or be taken away.
I can’t get it out of my head that AI infrastructure is NOT infrastructure like pipes or fibre.
And frontier models? Pipes. Pure commodity. Literally write themselves, bounded by compute.
It seems all the value must accrue to the application layer, starting from the layer closest to the model and working up.
So have a hierarchy of;
Power - Chips - Ontology - Vertcial Application

@Yam_Nivek ‘Nobody should be poor’ - ok, but if the solution for someone to not be poor is to simply transfer money from one person to another, then it fails.
So agreed, nobody ‘should’ be poor, so let’s address the root cause of that. But, plot twist, rich people don’t cause poor people.
Prediction: it doesn’t matter how cheap compute / inference /tokens get. Demand for machine cognition approaches infinity. The spend pie will not stop growing in our lifetime.
@AnonAthlete26@IowaAvsFan29 Ok, PEDs were rampant in the 90s and early 2000s and the most use was at the minor pro level. How bad was it in the show? And how rampant is it today?
