Russell Collins (he) is a professional instructional designer and creator of The Tears of a Machine SC game. He wants to improve accessibility and entertain.
The Tears of a Machine S.C. is a tabletop role-playing game of young adult drama and giant robot combat. Now available on Itch, DriveThruRPG, and Indie Press Revolution in book, PDF, and accessible audiobook formats. Links and more in this thread...
@GreatDismal This was the "grift that got away." I expected gated communities with his brand and logos were going to go up in the months after he lost in '16. Cheap construction, a TV permanently set on Fox, and neighbors guaranteed to be pasty racists. Then he had to go and win.
@PartyOfOnePod I was only recently made aware that Superpets had a post-credits scene in which Krypto and Superman meet Black Adam and his dog, Anubis. The Rock is voicing three of those characters, and apparently does a poor job because he won't let any of them not sound like him.
@AndTheMeltdowns Gunbuster is a classic of the genre. They use mecha suits but nearly all of the fighting is in space, against a variety of enemy ships in escalating sizes.
@AndTheMeltdowns I think https://t.co/t9ap41SVRd has ship-to-ship combat while moving faster than light. They have to maneuver to fire at angles where their own laser beams won't hit them. Starship Operators also has "hard sci-fi" battleships but cheap animation.

@Relentlessbooks@KevinPetker The Tears of a Machine S.C. is my game of YA melodrama and giant robot combat. I’ve likened it to Neon Genesis Evangelion meets Cobra Kai. If Twitter breaks the link it’s my pinned. https://t.co/YghVAlnbqi
@Scene_Four You want secrets? Mysteries? Surprises? This illusory choice stuff? That's cool. I want to get to the evil dragon's stronghold before my twilight years.
@Scene_Four This "immersion" nonsense is a barrier to just having fun. You've got limited time and energy. Don't waste it trying to convince some medieval pickpocket to grab up a weird sword when you can ask the lab technician across the table from you to do it.
@destinytrack Hooray! Now we can start the countdown to posts from people who liked it better when they could get one-shotted because "that was real challenge" and we just couldn't handle it.
@dragonkid112 I made The Tears of a Machine SC to play stories of young people growing up while saving the world from giant robot invaders. There are free community copies and a free accessible audiobook version. Let me know if you’d like me to send you a promo copy. https://t.co/YghVAlmDAK
@DaveTheGame@boymonster Or maybe that Attack on Titan junior high school spin-off when the scouts have to go into the titan classroom to steal back Armin’s lunch.
Tonight at 8pm we embark on a bold tabletop experiment: We imagine what a roleplaying game based on the Hollywood film "Dungeons & Dragons" might look like.
Naturally, because there is no better game to use, we are using @ndpaoletta's World Wide Wrestling to imagine this.
