If anybody wants to know why Gen X is always mad, it's because they had to replace their record collections with a tape collection that they had to replace with a CD collection that they had to replace with an MP3 collection, and now they need a subscription to listen to music
@SmartyPantsGma@end3of6days9 Doing good deeds feels good. Receiving compliments for your behaviors also feels good. This mom is introducing and reinforcing these societal desired behaviors through a game. Many kids will want to continue the behaviors even without the game and treat. Genius.
This mom came up with the smartest way to keep her four young kids well-behaved in public… and it’s about so much more than just surviving the grocery store.
She created the “Compliment Game.” The goal is for her kids to earn real compliments about their manners and kindness — holding doors, helping strangers, being polite. Those compliments turn into a treat once they get home.
What I love most is the bigger picture. She’s not just managing chaos in the moment. She’s actively teaching her children how to be kind and respectful to other people, and that kind of training is going to shape them into much better adults one day.
This feels like one of those small parenting ideas that can have a lasting impact.

My greatest accomplishment as a writer. I'll tell you.
In 1990 I moved to Livingston, Montana, a town of about 7000. Not long afterwards, the federal government decided to close old downtown post offices across America and replace them with car-friendly facilities on the outskirts. Well, as it happened Livingston's downtown post office was the grandest building in town, with a wide marble outdoor staircase that functioned as a center for sharing news, miscellaneous socializing, and nonstop acts of courtesy as people helped others carry packages or negotiate the sometimes icy steps in winter.
When I saw that our post office was marked for closure -- a grievous wound to our soul and our small commercial district -- I wrote an essay decrying the whole policy for Time Magazine. In short order, Montana's senior US Senator at the time, Max Baucus, swept into the Livingston post office with aides and made a scene. The kind of scene thst politicians serving their real constituencies should make.
And not only was our local post office spared, the overall federal policy was changed, which benefited town centers across the country.
As I say, best thing I ever did with written words.
I am going to make a claim that will get me attacked by cardiologists, pharmaceutical companies, and most of the medical establishment.
Heart disease can be cured without drugs.
Not managed. Not reduced. Cured.
I do not mean in theory. I mean there are populations on earth right now with virtually zero heart disease. No statins. No PCSK9 inhibitors. No cardiologists. Clean arteries into their 80s.
And the reason they have no heart disease is not genetics. It is not luck. It is not low cholesterol.
It is because they never triggered the mechanism that causes the disease in the first place.
That mechanism is taught in every medical school. It has been understood for over 25 years. And it proves that heart disease is a chain of events that can be broken at multiple points without a single drug.
Let me show you.
