As a current NHS doctor I am sad & angry the govt thinks it can get away with subjecting junior doctors to a 26% real terms pay cut, while parroting faux moral outrage about patient safety.
Rota gaps & unsafe staffing are endemic.
You never campaigned against them, not once.
Narrator: The only policy the UK parliament has passed on maternity rights in the last five years is to ban breastfeeding from the House of Commons. It also refuses to have an maternity cover policy for MPs that matches the legal requirements it makes for business. 👩🍼🛑
So Pret baristas will now be earning up to £14.10 an hour.
New NHS doctors - after their 5-year medical degree, whopping £80,000 of student debt, & life & death responsibilities - get paid £14.13 an hour.
And the government wonders why they're striking?

Hi @wesstreeting - about direct access to specialists, I have questions ... thread 🧵
You have a lump in the back of your head, you want to see a dermatologist. Why not a surgeon?
What if the lump was in your neck. Is it a gland swelling, a lipoma, cancer? Who do you see now?

Nurses strikes. Lawyers strikes. National rail strikes. University strikes. Likely doctors strikes.

Message from @Conservatives if you’re a nurse, quit & get a job in Aldi, if you’re a junior doctor, quit & get a job in Aldi. That may not help health policy & backlog. Public sector need fair pay.
