One of the biggest protests in years underway in my hometown Belgrade. For the third time, citizens gathered to protest against violence triggered by the two mass shootings that took place earlier in May.

Heartbreaking to watch when you know our AFP colleague who shot all these videos is now dead. But also makes me proud to be part of the same news agency and profession. Arman Soldin represents the best of us and will be someone to look up to for many more journalists to come.
Arman,
Sooo.. here is an unusually cute story from our day of reporting around #Bakhmut ! We found a baby hedgehog that was dehydrated and dying at the worst place possible in Chassiv Yar ...
Quick thread ! 🧶🧶🧶

There's a lot of pain in @AFP's London office, where Arman worked for years before going to Ukraine, and made many dear friends. I've been looking through his remarkable output since war began: 200+ videos from Ukraine w/ his byline. Incredible commitment; he was the real deal.
"His death is a terrible reminder of the risks and dangers faced by journalists every day covering the conflict in Ukraine."
-- @AFP chairman Fabrice Fries, on the death of Arman Soldin

Our hearts go out to the family of journalist Arman Soldin, who lost his life today reporting from the front lines of the war in Ukraine, and to Arman’s colleagues at the AFP. Journalism is fundamental to a free society. The world is indebted to Arman and to the 10 other reporters and media workers who have lost their lives while shining a light on the horrors of Russia’s invasion.
La mort tragique d'Arman Soldin à Bakhmout nous rappelle le prix de la liberté d'informer.
Je m'incline devant son courage d'avoir dit la réalité de la guerre et présente mes condoléances attristées à sa famille et à ses collgues.

Heartbroken by the loss of my AFP and Canal+ colleague @ArmanSoldin. He was funny, fearless and absurdly versatile, as at home on the front line as he was on a Premier League touchline. Please take the time to visit his timeline. He was doing incredibly brave reporting in Ukraine
Arman was the kind of guy who saved hurt hedgehogs in war zones. He was an incredible and vibrant personality and a great journalist. We miss him. We are mourning him. Rest in peace
Dans la voiture, pour notre premier départ sur le front en avril 2022, tu avais chanté à tue-tête par-dessus la radio militaire "Forever Young. I wanna be forever young".
Tu avais 32 ans.
Soldin was born on 21 March 1991 in Sarajevo. He was evacuated to France in 1992, at the age of 12 months.
He survived the #BosnianGenocide but was killed reporting on the one in 🇺🇦
