Yes you are correct, your own conscience is given by God...the Church informs, we should seriously consider grave matters...but after sincere struggle you must go by your conscience otherwise you are already divided. Even if I am wrong, I will Trust in God anyway, he sees the heart.

@swamthetiber25 I go to confession, I find it beneficial but God of course can forgive sins directly. No need to fight each other about it. Whatever brings you peace and clears the air is good.
