The first sod was turned today for the construction of the new Salmon Weir Pedestrian & Cycle Bridge, the first bridge to span the Corrib in over 30 years. The project is funded by the European Commission through the European Regional Development Fund,

Delighted to turn the sod for Galway's new pedestrian & cycle bridge. Everyone knows how dangerous the Salmon Weir bridge is & this project, co-funded by my Dept, will offer a dedicated safe crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists alike. @GalwayCityCo @NWAssembly @TFIupdates

Our #extradosed concrete design of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge in Ireland makes it the largest of its kind in the world – and the country’s longest #bridge overall. Read more about the @IABSEHQ Outstanding Structure Award (OStrA) winning bridge: https://t.co/w0wFTdnUHo
