On June 18, 2022, @USNavy christened DDG 122, the USS John Basilone.

During WWII, GySgt Basilone received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942, and was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism during the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945.
