Cllr Henson was taking part in an event at Exeter Cathedral, as part of Holocaust Memorial Day.
Exeter College has been praised by city leaders after being judged Outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.
Eight years since its last inspection, Ofsted again confirmed the college as Outstanding.

Organisers have raised a glass to the success of a real ale festival in the heart of Exeter city centre.
More than 1,300 people attended the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) event at Exeter Corn Exchange last weekend.
It is now hoped the event will return to the venue next year.

Work to contain an oil and diesel spillage in the Exeter Ship Canal has been completed with the sunken boat now out of the water.
