Moody Awori was born in 1927 in Butere though his parents Canon Jeremiah Awori and Mariamu Awori came from Funyula, Busia county. His parents had a total of 16 children who were very successful in academics and life in general. Some of his brothers like Agrey Awori were of Ugandan citizenship. Agree Awori contested for presidency in Uganda and emerged as position 3 in the general elections. One of Moody's sister Grace Wakhungu was implicated in the Nationa Cereal Board scandal alongside Sirisia MP John Waluke . Wakhungu had been imprisoned for over 60 years for this scandal. Another Moody's brother is Professor Nelson Awori who was the first African doctor to do successful kidney translant at Nairobi Hospital . Of course in 1950s WWW Awori was a member of Legco Moody Awori or Uncle Moody popularly known in Kenya first became a MP of Funyula in 1983 using KANU as the political party then under Daniel Moi. However in 2002 Moody left KANU and joined National Rainbow Coalition which Mwai Kibaki used to defeat Uhuru Kenyatta and became the third president of the Republic of Kenya. Moody Awori became the 9th Vice President of Kenya when Michael Kijana Wamalwa died in 2003. He was the VP from 25th September 2003 to 9th January 2008 where Kalonzo Musyoka was picked Mwai Kibaki as the 10th VP president of Kenya. Of course in the 2007 general elections, Moody Awori had lost his MP position to Paul Otuoma Since his last active participation in office as VP and MP, the 98 year old has led a quiet life. In fact he was not involved in abusive politics like most politicians do. This may explain the reason behind his long life. No politician according to my knowledge has lived longer like Uncle Moody. He's my role model to this regard. Quiet life after retirement. Minding his own business. Long live Uncle Moody Awori 🙏
