My @TEDTalks is now online.
I argue that we have the opportunity to build a world where we can all live well, and tackle our environmental problems at the same time.
This is possible, but not inevitable. We have to push to make that a reality.

@MattWhitmanTMBH I should note i am not an expert but Cochrane excluded this study in their meta-analysis as it includes SARS-Cov-2 negative patients in their sample. It's better to look at meta-analyses than single studies. Hope that helps.

It does definitely look like a code red on B.1.1.529 (in need of a Greek letter). Time to - red list international travel from Southern Africa, monitor circulating SARS-CoV-2 (isolates, wastewater), drugs and vaccines to SA, biological assays on pseudo virus.
NEW: detailed thread on Europe’s winter wave and the contrast vs UK
What’s happening? Why the difference? Can boosters help?
First, the wave itself: cases, hospitalisations & deaths surging in Europe, several western countries shooting past UK 📈
Story: https://t.co/7Kqn8eTkoG
NEW: in the last couple of weeks there have a *lot* of new studies out assessing vaccine efficacy, many of which have touched on the question of waning immunity.
Unsurprisingly, these have prompted a *lot* of questions.
Time for a thread to summarise what we do and don’t know:
Yesterday saw the release of the IPCC report on climate change. How will the world, and the UK govt in particular, respond?
The lesson from the COVID pandemic is that it will respond... very badly indeed. 1/12
Imagine if, in Jan/Feb 2020, European countries or US had proposed relaxing privacy laws or tracking phones to ensure adherence to COVID measures. Reflecting honestly, what would you reaction have been? 1/
@sallylepage It's especially heartbreaking when you consider he'd been circling her for over an hour when the other showed up. The female continued to stand her ground and wasn't interested in either of them as far as I could tell.
@sallylepage I remember you once tweeted that you always wanted people to send you cool wildlife stuff so here is some classic hedgehog courtship behaviour I managed to capture outside my window last night
