Arnaldi told me in early May that he'd been battling a right foot injury all season, but it finally started improving in the last week of April.
Since then:
-Won the Sardinia 175 Challenger
-Reached the 3rd round at Rome Masters
-Into his first major quarterfinal
First time three Italian men have reached the quarterfinals of a major in the Open Era.
And Jannik Sinner isn't one of them.
Exactly how everyone drew it up.
3 - Three players under the age of 21 (Joao Fonseca, Jakub Mensik and Rafael Jodar) have reached the Men’s Singles quarter-final at a Grand Slam event for the first time this century. Arrival.

What a win for Joao Fonseca.
After taking out Djoker, the big question was how he'd handle the physical and emotional turnaround. He looked comfortable start to finish and was clearly the better player against Ruud.
This is the level from Fonseca everyone has been waiting for.
@CAEZMEH@TennisBlogger1 Cerundolo on clay and when his mind is right I think can challenge that group.
He wouldn't be favored against Djoker, Zverev, Ruud, De Minaur but I think he'd definitely have a shot.
JM Cerundolo
Landaluce
Berrettini
Comesana
Tiafoe
Faria
Arnaldi
Collignon
Auger-Aliassime
Nakashima
Kouamé
Tabilo
Cobolli
Tien
F Cerundolo
Svajda
One of them will reach the #RolandGarros final.
Berrettini is the only one of them who reached a Slam final!
@TennisBlogger1 Definitely think that's a good call.
Part of me thinks it’s going to be Learner Tien — but if FAA is ever going to become the player so many thought he could be, here's his moment
@catilinecomm He did and I still think there's a lot of room for him to grow and get better.
He's already such a good athlete and can play exceptional defense. I think there's still another level he can reach in being more aggressive both with the serve and FH.
Collignon with the best win by rank of his career over No. 5 Shelton.
This didn’t come out of nowhere. He beat Ruud and De Minaur last fall, then pushed Musetti to four sets at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Raphael Collignon is arriving fast on the big stage.
Shelton was on a 23-match completed match win streak at majors against players outside the top-50. Last loss Wimbledon 2023.
Essentially upset-proof in BO5 since he broke into the top-20.
I believe this loss will age well, as in Raphael Collignon will be rising.
He still may not win #RolandGarros, but to address the obvious
Alexander Zverev will never have a better opportunity to win a major than this
No Sinner. No Alcaraz. No other clear contender at his peak. Yes there's still a guy named Novak, but this is the draw. Now it's on him
@TidbitsTennis In the next tweet, I cited how he’s athletic with plus FH and a good serve.
His movement skills also stood out. I did probably list too much of recent success though and that’s not necessary.
@TidbitsTennis I should have said there were still flashes of the silky game.
Saw too many errors and a guy unsure of how to attack. I think it’s fairly obvious a decline is happening so didn’t write that. I do still believe he’s got the capability to play winning tennis but we’ll see.
He’s a great athlete with a plus FH and a good serve. Reached the SFs in Montpellier this year all the way from qualifying and did it taking out Kovacevic and Griekspoor before losing in 3 to FAA.
Curious to see if he can keep rising and stacking wins.
I’d never seen Titouan Droguet play in person, and it’s easy to see how he’s broken out over the last year. He beat Fearnley and Atmane, both in three sets, and made Collignon work in the QFs. Now at a career-high No. 109, he’ll make his Roland Garros debut as a WC.
