@CollegefootBoal@Chan_man0@AndyStaples@AriWasserman If people don’t believe that the results of games are legitimate and that the athletes are a trying to win a bet then the entire sport falls apart. The sanctity of legitimate competitive outcomes is the most valuable asset of every organized spectator sport in the world.
@CollegefootBoal@Chan_man0@AndyStaples@AriWasserman It’s not about morality. It’s about everyone being able to feel comfortable that the outcomes of the games are the result of real competition between the athletes and teams, rather than being manipulated by a potential gambling result.
All sports media people have done for the last decade is try to score gotcha points calling out influential people that participated in the broken system, when those same people are the ones actually trying to fix the broken system. Not a productive use of media platforms.
But it’s actually more like:
‘I had the biggest, baddest Ferraris in CFB for a decade, then everyone started buying them, too. Going to the track every Saturday really wasn’t all that fun anymore.’
@JoshPateCFB Why has college football historically used a top 25 poll? It’s almost as if around that number is the actual realistic number of teams that can be considered “Good” and worthy of recognition. This whole “Why not 48? Why not 64?” retort is obtuse.
@PantherRich@big_chardonnay No it doesn’t. This is well established and has been consistent with the committee for years. For bid, the conference tournament only matters if you win it. Consider your RPI on the last day of the regular season basically locked in.
