@hadrianposts@itsme_urstruly In that case, it's a mirror solely for your own realization. It's not about attraction or reciprocity. It's your own experience that has nothing to do with the other's experience. Something is seen in another that resonates within part of your own self, for reflection.
@darwintojesus@Jaxon85400892 You're taught that so you never learn to grow and heal without the cult. There are many very fine people in the world.
If it's hard for you to be decent, that does not mean it's hard for everyone.
It's a scary and divisive path to walk, thinking everyone is inherently bad.
@darwintojesus When you stop feeling entitled by a martyr "dying for your sins", you take actual steps of improving yourself through accountability for your own shortcomings.
Believing you are "born sinful" creates a deep unworthiness that requires magical thinking for redemption.
@DroppingTrooth @theerealtao That is, by far, psychologically and pragmatically different than fear of eternal damnation or fear of vengeance from a deity for lack of belief or ample worship.
I see the car. I've known accidents to happen. It's provable.
@DroppingTrooth @theerealtao Fear is used as a tool of control. It is the beginning of biblical "wisdom" because without that fear, people would more readily evaluate the contradictions therein and immoral actions of the biblical god. But they fear the consequences of asking the hardest questions.
@DroppingTrooth @theerealtao If your god condones or accepts belief as insurance or "just in case", that's inauthentic. It's hollow..it's transactional. It removes anything noble from the idea of faith. And a supposed all knowing god would sniff this out.
@Frantr0n@JamieBonkiewicz What was the threat? Have you ever worked in a restaurant? Is it illegal to call for an impeachment?
Do you support people who called for the impeachment of Biden?
@KristinSan7j@JamieBonkiewicz What was the threat? What does 86 mean? Have you ever worked in a restaurant or known people who have?
Is it illegal to call for the impeachment of a President? If so, why didn't you criticize Republicans for calling for the impeachment of Biden?
You are all so disingenuous.
@sk_constantine@_OKJ__ Believing for insurance which is not of devotion, not of faith, not of curiosity or the desire to be better, just fear of consequences. "Believing just in case" is vapid, superficial, and inauthentic. It is probably the worst type of belief that exists. It's transactional.
@BWKOU1@JenResistedAGN Disagree all you want.
I'm explaining I have this capacity without needing god to command it and you disregard this fact.
YOU may need god in order to abstain from being selfish. I don't. So it is indeed possible.
@BWKOU1@JenResistedAGN I did not, at any point, say we have it "all together". I simply expressed the capacity to love and care and be kind without god commanding it.
@BWKOU1@JenResistedAGN You assume an awful lot about others. I tell you I am able without god or Jesus, and you are unable or refuse to process that for some reason.
Many people have died helping and/or protecting others. It's quite natural for people to share that type of bond.
@BWKOU1@JenResistedAGN I do. Many do. If I can, it's possible. And even one person loving others without needing god proves it's not necessary.
I'm not bashing faith. It has benevolent uses. But the ability to care is possible without god. Otherwise, I wouldn't care or love. And I certainly do.
