It's your own experience that has nothing to do with the other's experience. Something is seen in another that resonates within part of your own self, for reflection.

Believing you are "born sinful" creates a deep unworthiness that requires magical thinking for redemption.

@DroppingTrooth @theerealtao Fear is used as a tool of control. It is the beginning of biblical "wisdom" because without that fear, people would more readily evaluate the contradictions therein and immoral actions of the biblical god. But they fear the consequences of asking the hardest questions.

@sk_constantine @_OKJ__ Believing for insurance which is not of devotion, not of faith, not of curiosity or the desire to be better, just fear of consequences. "Believing just in case" is vapid, superficial, and inauthentic. It is probably the worst type of belief that exists. It's transactional.

Many people have died helping and/or protecting others. It's quite natural for people to share that type of bond.

I'm not bashing faith. It has benevolent uses. But the ability to care is possible without god. Otherwise, I wouldn't care or love. And I certainly do.
