@labourlewis Thanks @labourlewis what about the failings of the scheme itself? The younger & earlier a victim died, the lower compensation becomes. Disparity between deceased & survivors up to over £1 million. Death is ultimate price. It must bring the ultimate compensation, not the lowest!

Today, as Parliamentary Lead for the Hillsborough Law campaign, I asked the Prime Minister to honour the promise he made to bereaved families, survivors and the Country.

Last week's Ockenden Report is another stark reminder of why the Hillsborough Law is urgently needed.

These are just some of the faces of people whose lives were stolen by the infected blood scandal.

Their families have waited decades for justice.

Now, even in death, many bereaved families are facing delays, unfair rules and a compensation scheme that still fails to recognise their loss.

Death should never mean less justice.

We won’t stop fighting until every family receives the dignity, recognition and fairness they deserve.

The greatest level of compensation for surviving victims, must be used as the benchmark for those who were killed by decades of systemic state failure (corporate manslaughter?), delays and cover ups. WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP FIGHTING FOR OUR LOVED ONES!

#InfectedBlood Compensation Scheme is meant to compensate for all harms, why then is DEATH valued less than survival? Under the current approach, the younger a victim was when they died, and the earlier they died, the lower the compensation. THIS IS NOT JUSTICE !

The earlier someone died, the less compensation their estate receives, and for many bereaved families the future financial loss isn’t recovered elsewhere.
Families should not receive less simply because their loved one died before the Government finally introduced compensation.
We urge the Government to review these disparities and deliver a scheme that is fair to all affected families.

One scandal One community.

Yet families continue to face different outcomes based on circumstances beyond their control.

Many bereaved families have discovered that the compensation available can vary significantly depending on factors such as the date their loved one died, despite experiencing the same devastating loss.

For families, the impact does not change because of a date on a certificate.

The grief is the same. The loss is the same.
The years of hardship are the same.

We welcome the progress that has been made, but financial disparities remain one of the most significant unresolved issues affecting bereaved families.

We are calling for a fair and equitable approach that recognises the reality faced by all affected families.

No family should be disadvantaged because of when their loved one died.

No family should be left behind.

Justice must include families.
